有田焼の歴史
肥前の国(現在の佐賀県)有田で
磁器が初めて焼かれたのは
江戸時代初期約400年前と言われています。
有田泉山に磁器原料の陶石を
発見されたのが有田焼の始まりと言われています。
このとき1616年に
白川天狗谷窯で焼かれた物が
日本で最初の磁器となりました。
その後有田焼の発展は、
オランダ東インド会社による
東洋貿易に依存することになりました。
当時インドネシアのバタビア現在の
ジャカルタを拠点に
中国景徳鎮の磁器を集荷し
ヨーロッパ諸国に売り捌いていた
東インド会社は1644年の
明王朝の滅亡に伴う混乱で
衰退してしまいました。
そのかわりに磁器生産が盛んな
有田焼が輸出され始まるのは1650年からでした。
1670年1680年代には
柿右衛門様式の爛熟期で、
高い品質の陶磁器が
長崎オランダ商館を通じて
ヨーロッパに輸出される様になりました。
しかし有田焼は徳川政権下1715年に
私貿易の禁止や取引額の
制限等の鎖国政策により輸出が出来なくなりました。
その後徳川政権が終わり
明治と元号を改め有田焼は
再びパリ万博を契機に輸出され
脚光を浴びることになります。
☆現在、伊万里.有田焼と
呼ばれる理由は有田で
焼かれ磁器が伊万里港から
輸出された為伊万里焼と呼ばれました。
A History of Aritayaki
It is said that porcelain
was first baked in Arita,
the province of Hizen
(present-day Saga Prefecture),
about 400 years ago
in the early Edo period.
They say that “Aritayaki”
began after the
discovery of porcelain
stone in Izumiyama,
Arita. At this time,
the first porcelain
in Japan was baked at the Shirakawa Tengudani kiln in 1616.
The development of
Aritayaki was related
to trade with the Dutch
East India Company.
At that time,
the Dutch East India
Company was based in Batavia of
Indonesia (now Jakarta) and
collected porcelains
from Jingdezhen,
China to sell them
to European countries,
however, it went into a
decline due to
disruption caused by the
fall of the Ming Dynasty in China. Instead, exportation
of Aritayaki of which production was thriving began after 1650.
In the 1670s and 1680s,
the Kakiemon style was
fully matured, and
high-quality ceramics
began to be exported to
Europe through the
Nagasaki Dutch Trading Post.
However, in 1715,
under the Tokugawa
government, Arita porcelain
could no longer be
exported due to the
national isolation
policy including
prohibition of private
trade and restriction
in amount of trade.
After the end of the
Tokugawa regime and the
era name having been
changed to “Meiji”,
exportation of Aritayaki
was restarted along
with the Paris World
Exposition and came
into the spotlight.
The reason why it is
called “Imari-Aritayaki”
today is because
the porcelain was baked in
Arita and exported
from Imari port.
